Operation Manual

Brief description:
PSG2 is an application that facilitates the delivery of real time streaming video, voice, text, and data wherever it is needed. This document describes the operation of the PSG2 system.

PSG2 SERVER OPERATION:
a. Open a command prompt, Click on Start à ProgramsàAccessoriesà Command Prompt.
b. Change the directory to the application install directory, C:\NCApplications\SIPServer.
c. Type psg2 to start the server.
d. Do not close the command prompt it will terminate the server.
2) Server Shutdown Procedure:
a. Ctrl C on the command prompt window that started the server.
b. Type ncStop on the command prompt to stop the database.
VIDEO CAPTURE OPERATION
The PSG2 Video capture program sends the video to the server; this video is then transmitted to the clients when the video is requested.
Note: If a web cam is being used install the drivers before starting the capture program.
1. Selecting the source of video.
The source for the video can be either a device connected to a computer like a web cam or a network source like a network camera or a DVR.
a. Setting the source of the video to be a device connected to the computer.
i. Click on the Devices Menu and select the desired video capture device.

b. Setting the source of video to be a Network source.
i. Click on File à Select “Open URL”

ii. Enter the URL of the network source.
2. Preview the Captured Stream
a. Click on “Options”à select “Preview”

3. Setting the Input Capture Parameters.
a. Click on “Options” à Select “Video Format”.

b. The dialog will show you the supported options. Select the required options.

c. If the input capture parameters are not set, the default of the camera is used.
4. Broadcast Video
a. Click on “Broadcast” à “Start Broadcast”

b. The broadcast port can be changed if required.
c. Select the option “Broadcast from Server” (this is selected by default).
d. Enter the URL of the server. The URL is of the form
i. http://serveraddress:serverport/SIPApp/uplpsg2.html
e. Click “OK”
COMMAND CENTER OPERATION
Command Center dispatches links to live video streams and multimedia content on the server to end-users.
Operational Steps on the Command Center:
1. Logging on to PSG2 Command Center
a. Enter the following URL in the browser address bar; replace “servername” with IP address or domain name of the server.
http://servername:8080/CmdCenter/

b. Enter the User Name / Password (Default admin/admin).

c. You will be logged into the Command Center
2. Upload Multimedia content into the PSG2 server
a. Click on the “MultiMediaàUpload Media” on the left frame
b. Enter the name of the file on the server
c. Enter a description
d. Select a file.
e. Click on the Upload Button

3. Send Media by User Name
a. Click on the “MultiMediaàSend by User” link on the left frame
b. Select the Files to be sent
c. Select the Users the files have to be sent to
d. Click on the Send button.

4. Send Media by Category
a. Click on the “MultiMediaàSend by Category” link on the left frame
b. Select the Files to be sent
c. Select the Designations the files have to be sent to
d. Click on the Send button.

5. Send Broadcast by User
Note: Broadcast means a source of live streaming video
a. Click on the “Broadcast à Send by User” link on the left frame
b. Select the “Locations” to be sent
c. Select the Users the files have to be sent to
d. Click on the Send button.

6. Send Broadcast by Category
Note: Broadcast means a source of live streaming video
a. Click on the “Broadcast àSend by Category” link on the left frame
b. Select the “Locations” to be sent
c. Select the Designations the files have to be sent to
d. Click on the Send button.

7. Delete a location
a. Click on the “Broadcast à Delete Broadcast” link on the left frame
b. Select a Location to delete
c. Click on the “Delete” button

PSG2 CLIENT OPERATION
Operational Steps on the PSG2 Client:
1. Login:
1.1. Enter the following URL in the browser address bar; replace the “servername” with the IP address or the domain name of the server.
1.2. Enter the username/password and click Login
Note: The pre-configured username/passwords are
i. celia / celia
ii. helen / helen
iii. sam / sam
iv. mike /mike

1.3. User Interface on Login.
The user interface is divided into panels. The various panels can be accessed by clicking on the tabs on the upper and lower portions of the interface. The active tab has a darker shade than the rest of the tabs. For example in Fig 1.3 the “BUDDIES” tab is active.
Buddy Tab after user login
The color of the buttons beside the name specifies the status of the user.

3. Yellow à Status Unknown

2. Receiving Multimedia on the PSG2 Client
2.1. The “MULTIMEDIA” tab turns green when there is a media link sent
2.2. Select the “MULTIMEDIA” tab on the client panel
2.3. Click on the link that is to be viewed
2.3.1. A picture link clicked, click on the ‘X’ to close it
2.3.2. A streaming video link clicked

3. Text Chat with Buddy
3.1. Click on the user you want to communicate with. You will be able to chat only with a user who is online.
3.2. Type a message in the input text box and click the “SEND” button.
3.3. Click on the up and down triangles to scroll up and down the text history.

3.4. The minimize button (represented by “_”) closes the chat panel and stores the chat history for this particular user.
3.5. The close button (represented by “X”) closes the chat panel and clears the chat history with this user.
4. Calling a Buddy:
4.1. Initiating a Phone Call.
4.2. Accepting /Rejecting a Phone Call.
4.3. Call Status Notification.
4.4. Ending a Call.

5. Logging out
5.1. Click on the username button on the top left corner.
5.2. Click on the “Logout” button.
